SUPPORTIVE GROUP OPPORTUNITIES
Make a difference without leaving your school, house of worship or organizational home. Girl and Boy Scout troops and schools are ideally suited to our group efforts.
- Organize a drive. Collecting a specific item needed such as jeans, coats and toiletries is easy and very helpful.
- Make and deliver any number of bagged lunches on a Friday.
- Schools: each month arrange for a different grade to learn about homeless neighbors to raise homelessness awareness; follow up by making lunches for Bridges to distribute; or choose one special day of service for homelessness awareness education.
- Hand out paper lunch bags with a list of ingredients for a healthy bagged lunch and have them returned filled and ready to go. Deliver to Bridges on Fridays.
- Encourage messages of compassion from our youngest volunteers by asking them to decorate lunch bags or make valentines or other seasonal greeting cards.
- Have a Sock Hop. At your next school dance ask everyone to contribute a pair of new socks or cut out paper socks to hang on a wall with the donor's name and collect $1 for each paper sock.
- Make a clothesline out of string and hang paper blue jeans. Have everyone take a "pair" home with them to remind them to look in their closet for jeans they no longer wear.
- Collect new backpacks and school supplies for children in shelters.
- Collect old backpacks and duffle bags for friends on the street.
